Contemporary Art

Creating polymer plate etchings has presented the opportunity to extend my digitally-based photographic work to a new medium. Working from the computer screen, and then carrying these images to the studio, gives a balance of technology and tradition, control and surprise, head and hand. Exploring the intersection of what is possible with Photoshop, and what is appropriate on the plate is a challenge. I work with master printer Mark Lunning at Open Press in Denver.
My hope is that my personal vision, expressed through the physical beauty of ink pressed into paper, will communicate a fresh and enduring statement. Each work is an homage , most often to nature or to the art or an artist of the past.
